The Bison wrestling team competed in the Navy Classic on Nov. 23 in Annapolis, Md. Led by two third-place finishes, the team finished in 13th place overall with 46.5 points.

Zach Hartman ’22 came in third place in the 165 weight class, improving his overall record to 10-3 and a 4-1 on the day. After cruising through the opening round, he pinned a Campbell opponent to clinch the finish.

Matthew Kolonia ’21 also collected a third place finish in the 149 weight class, improving to 7-4 on the season. The highlight of the day for Kolonia came from a pin on an Oregon State opponent in the final period to secure the victory.

Drew Phipps ’20 reached the quarterfinals at the 197 weight class and moved to 7-2 on the season.

The lone Bison still undefeated this season so far is Brandon Seidman ’22 with a 4-0 record at the 125 weight class. Mitch Hartman ’20 also picked up his second win of the season after a tough match against an opponent from Ohio.

Garrett Hoffman ’20 did not participate in the meet but spoke on his goal for the team this season, as well as the upcoming home meet.

“Everyone that competed went out there and gave it their all. No matter who they wrestled they just went out there and competed to the best of their ability. We have a young but experienced team,” Hoffman said. “This year the team has great potential and can really make some noise. It’ll just come down to getting everyone to compete their best at the same time. I’m excited to see how everyone performs this Thursday, especially in front of our home crowd. It’s a good way to show our fans what they can look forward to this season and give them a little preview of what’s to come.”

Up next for the Orange and Blue is their opening home meet. This will be held against Bloomsburg on Dec. 5 in the Davis Gym at 7 p.m.
