Women’s Tennis headed to Pittsburgh this past weekend to compete in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. Saint Francis University (Pa.) also took part in competition against the Bison.
The Bison went 14-5 in singles matches on the weekend and 8-7 in doubles matches. The team won six of nine singles matches and five out of ten matches in doubles play on the final day of the two-day event.
Abby Platt ’26 and Whitney King ’25 won both doubles matches on day two and went 3-0 as a pair across the weekend. This duo is turning into an unstoppable force for the Bison, as they are now 6-0 together on the season and were 21-4 last season.
Platt and King beat their doubles opponents on the first day of the invitational with a combined score of 16-2. Utter domination from the pair, and they look to continue that.
“Abby Platt and I have been really successful together because of our chemistry on the court! Our playing styles are also extremely complementary of each other, we are both aggressive players at the net, but I would say most of it comes from our team chemistry, we just sort of get each other on the court,” King said.
Mirra Manolov ’26 along with Platt and Tori Allen ’27 each won their singles matches in straight sets on day two of the event.
Next weekend, Women’s Tennis heads to Baltimore, Md. to take part in the Rick McClure Women’s Invitational at Loyola.
