It was reported this week that Bucknell University climbed seven spots from last year to tie for 30th in the category of “National Liberal Arts Colleges” in the new ‘U.S. News & World Report 2024 Best Colleges’ rankings.
According to the same report, Bucknell also ranked fifth among “Most Innovative Schools – National Liberal Arts Colleges;” seventh among “Best Undergraduate Engineering – Non-Doctorate,” specifically third in Mechanical Engineering, third in Civil Engineering, fourth in Electrical/Electronic/Communications Engineering and fifth in Computer Engineering; and finally 15th in “First-Year Experiences.”
Bucknell additionally cracked the top 30 in the categories of “Learning Communities” (24), “Senior Capstone” (26) and “Undergraduate Teaching – National Liberal Arts Colleges” (29).
The rankings were assessed and measured using 13 indicators for the national liberal arts colleges, regional universities and regional colleges. Each school’s ranking factors were calculated and compared with the mean and standard deviation values of other schools to create a normalized score. Then, these normalized scores were weighted and summed to arrive at each college’s final overall score.
Information displayed in the 2024 report was collected during the spring and summer of 2023 via U.S. News’ annual online statistical surveys and overall assessment of colleges.
