Women’s Tennis competed in the Rick McClure Invitational hosted by Loyola University (Md.) this past weekend. It was a rousing success for the squad, as domination continues to be the theme of the season.
Whitney King ’25 and Abby Platt ’26 walked away with the victory in the championship round of the Invitational on Sunday, winning one of the duo’s two singles matches. The tandem is 9-0 on the season when playing in doubles matches together. Platt also won her singles match 6-3,6-4.
“I think Abby and I do so well together because our playing styles are extremely complementary of each other and our chemistry on and off the court is unmatched.” King told me. “We love competing together because we are able to have fun with it and when one of us is down, the other is right there to pick them up. Abby is like a sister to me now and I can’t imagine my college tennis career without her!”
Aside from the consolation bracket, the Bison did well in the consolation bracket on Sunday as well.
Anna Lajos ’25 and Tyne Miller ’24 swept their opponents 3-0 in their bracket. Tori Allen ’27 and Kate Novak ’24 also won their matches in the consolation bracket.
Women’s Tennis has their first dual match of the season coming up next. They head to Bowling Green, Ohio to take on the Falcons of Bowling Green University on Oct. 13. Then it’s a quick turnover as the next day they head to Big Rapids, Mich. to take on Ferris State University.
