This Halloweekend, I ventured out several times. I knew that, as it was Halloweekend, I couldn’t back down and had to get as much out of the experience as possible. I went out both Friday and Saturday night, as well as to Saturday Super. After going out so many times, I got to see a plethora of costumes. I compiled a list of the best and worst costumes I saw during my Halloweekend escapade at Bucknell.
Starting strong, my favorite costume witnessed on Friday night was the Black Swan. With a tight corset and a ballet tutu, this costume was sublime. The makeup went along with the costume perfectly, especially the little bits of shimmer and rhinestones around the eyes. Now, I’m a sucker for a good Disney Princess costume; however, I felt that the princess theme was extremely oversaturated this year. I saw several girls in the same princess costume, and while they ate it up every time, it felt overdone. I couldn’t walk down the street without seeing a Snow White in a corset top. Bippity, boppity… unoriginal, if you ask me.
Moving on to Super! The people dressed as caf workers had the best costumes hands-down. The costumes were both original and hilarious. Equipped with the apron and all, the caf worker costume gave me horror flashbacks to caf food, and isn’t being spooked what Halloween is all about? Super is all about the giggles, and the Magic Mikes weren’t giving that. While the costumes were cute, they didn’t provide that silly Super vibe. Magic Mike on a Friday? I vibe with that. Magic Mike at Super? Eh, it feels like an excuse for having a lack of humor.
Finally, Saturday night. My favorite of the night was a couples costume of Lady Liberty and a New York tourist. Not only did it show creativity, but it also showed admiration for one’s partner. I just know the pictures were iconic for this one. Formula 1 has taken the world by storm, and apparently, Bucknell, too. The costume was always cute; however, it looked the same on everyone. I felt like I was having deja vu every time I passed one. It was a look of the masses.
Overall, Halloween is a time to dress up as someone other than yourself and have fun. Whether you were a caf worker or a Formula 1 racer, I’m sure your Halloweekend was spooktacular. I look forward to next Halloweekend and hope you had a spooky good time this year!
