After losing twice on the road last weekend, Bison Women’s Tennis team was able to secure a win on Feb. 9 against Saint Francis, in their first home match of the season.
Abby Platt ’26 and Whitney King ’25 grabbed the first win in the No. 1 doubles match with a score of 6-1. This brought the duo’s record to 13-1 for the season. As for the No. 2 doubles match, Tyne Miller ’24 and Anna Lajos ’25 won 6-2.
Saint Francis clinched the No. 3 doubles match with a score of 6-2, beating Caroline Marcus ’25 and Kate Novac ’24.
Platt continued to increase the Orange and Blue’s lead with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 3 singles match, and Tori Allen ’27 secured a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win in the No. 6 singles match, putting the Bison up 3-1. The sole Saint Francis point at the time came from first-year Jaycie Mair’s loss in her No. 5 singles match (5-7, 2-6).
Lajos also lost the No. 2 singles match (7-5, 2-6, 4-6), and Miller lost the No. 4 singles match 1-6, 6-3, 4-6, to tie up the game 3-3.
In a showdown, King won her No. 1 singles match (4-6, 7-5, 6-3), to grab the 4-3 game win and break the tie.
Women’s Tennis is next up on Saturday at home against Seton Hall, and Sunday at home against Delaware.
