Men’s Tennis improved to 3-1 on the young season after a dominant 6-1 against Rider on the road this past Saturday, following a sweep in doubles play and five straight singles victories.
Amar Tahirovic ’26 and Brendan McDonald ’26 won 6-3 in their doubles match No. 1, Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega ’26 and Adam Stavrakas ’26 won on No. 2 and Tim Zelikovsky ’24 and Liam Kilmer ’27 won in a tiebreaker at No. 3. The Bison’s record in doubles matches this season is now 42-20.
After a clean sweep in doubles play, the Bison had a near-perfect day in singles as well.
Stavrakas won the final ten games of his singles match en route to a 6-2, 6-0 victory, and Kilmer won his first eight games, paving the way for a 6-0, 6-2 win in singles play.
Tahirovic is now 12-2 on the season in singles play after a 6-3, 6-4 win on Saturday.
Bain Moreno de Vega and Zelikovsky now each lead the team in singles wins after both securing their 13th this weekend.
“One thing we try to focus on is not to fluctuate too much from what we do in practice,” Bain Moreno de Vega said. “If we stick to the basics and what we dominate, we can also dominate our opponents.
The lone point for Rider came in a singles match, where McDonald fell.
Bucknell’s next matchup is Sunday Feb. 18 on the road against Delaware.
