Men’s Tennis rolls Rider on the road

Men’s Tennis improved to 3-1 on the young season after a dominant 6-1 against Rider on the road this past Saturday, following a sweep in doubles play and five straight singles victories.

Amar Tahirovic 26 and Brendan McDonald 26 won 6-3 in their doubles match No. 1, Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega 26 and Adam Stavrakas 26 won on No. 2 and Tim Zelikovsky 24 and Liam Kilmer 27 won in a tiebreaker at No. 3. The Bison’s record in doubles matches this season is now 42-20.

After a clean sweep in doubles play, the Bison had a near-perfect day in singles as well.

Tahirovic is now 12-2 on the season in singles play after a 6-3, 6-4 win on Saturday.

Bain Moreno de Vega and Zelikovsky now each lead the team in singles wins after both securing their 13th this weekend.

“One thing we try to focus on is not to fluctuate too much from what we do in practice,” Bain Moreno de Vega said. “If we stick to the basics and what we dominate, we can also dominate our opponents.

The lone point for Rider came in a singles match, where McDonald fell.

Bucknell’s next matchup is Sunday Feb. 18 on the road against Delaware.
