To begin the season, Women’s Lacrosse traveled to University Park, Pennsylvania to take on No. 17 Penn State. In a hard-fought battle, the Bison fell to the Nittany Lions 22-8.

The game was originally supposed to be a home matchup for the Bison, but was set to College Park after the snowstorm that hit Lewisburg on Monday night left conditions unplayable.

Allie Boyce ’25, the Preseason All-Patriot League attackman, notched a hat trick in the first game of the season for Bucknell. Boyce opened up hot coming off of a 50-goal season in which she led the nation in shooting percentage and free-position shooting percentage.

Caroline Sheridan ’26 posted two goals and Taylor Kopan ’24 and Alex Nesbitt ’26 tallied a goal and an assist each. Emily Baird ’24 also posted a goal of her own.

This was the second-highest goal total Bucknell has ever had in 18 meetings against the Nittany Lions, and the most since it scored 9 goals in 2014.

After Braeden Siverson ’27 won the opening faceoff, the Bison drove down the turf, leading to a Boyce goal to put them up 1-0 less than a minute into the contest. But, PSU unleashed a 6-0 scoring run on the Bison after this, putting the Nittany Lions up 6-1.

After Penn State led 13-5 at half, the Bison would again score the first goal of the half with a Baird snipe. But again, the Nittany Lions would open up another huge run, this time 8-0. This put the win out of reach for the Bison.

The Orange & Blue head to Villanova this weekend to take on the Wildcats.
