Despite the loss, the team still honored their three graduating seniors: Miller, Novak and Sebulsky. The three combined to be a part of 38 Bucknell victories during their time here.
Following the loss, the Orange and Blue hosted Lehigh in their last home match of the season and fell 6-1, bringing their record to 8-12.
In the number one doubles match Platt and King were able to secure a strong 7-5 win, however Lajos and Manolov fell 4-6 in the number two match and Sebulsky and Marcus lost 6-7 in the number three.
In the number one singles match King played hard, falling in three sets. She won 6-3 in the first, but fell 3-6, 1-6 in the following sets. The number two singles match also lasted three sets with Lajos grabbing the first 6-2, but ultimately falling 2-6, 5-7 in the next sets. In the number three singles match, Platt secured the only singles win for the Bison, winning 6-3 in the first set, losing the second 4-6 and grabbing the third 7-6. The number six singles match also went to three sets with Manolov eventually losing 7-6, 3-6, 8-10. The number four and number five singles matches did not make it to three sets, with Miller losing 3-6, 3-6 and Jaycie Mair ’27 falling 2-6, 2-6.
Despite a disappointing weekend, Platt remains optimistic about the games ahead.
“Emotions were running high as we headed into Senior Day this past weekend. We were thrilled to honor the seniors’ accomplishments throughout their collegiate tennis career and celebrate their next steps after graduation, but we were also filled with nostalgia knowing how special each one is to our coach and the team. With no graduates last year, this senior group has done an admirable job leading our team for the past two years,” Platt said. “We are in the home stretch of Patriot League play, and despite facing recent adversity, we’ve learned a lot of lessons and I’m confident that we’ll bounce back this weekend.”
The Bison are on the road this week as they head to Loyola on Saturday, April 13th.
