The Bison traveled down to Lexington, Va. last weekend to compete against Division III school Washington and Lee University on Friday, Feb. 7. While a tough matchup, the team ultimately continued their spring season with a rough loss. The Orange & Blue were supposed to play Towson on Saturday, Feb. 8, but the match was postponed due to bad weather conditions.
Friday kicked off with a strong start in the doubles matches. Power pair Whitney King ’25 and Abby Platt ’26 claimed a 6-1 win. Dynamic duo Tori Allen ’27 and Natalie Devraj ’28 followed suit by defeating their Trident opponents 6-2. Despite Anna Lajos ’25 and Mirra Manolov’s ’26 close loss, falling 3-6 in their match, the two wins gave the Bison the doubles point towards the team finish.
Singles matches were rough as the Bison struggled to gain a footing. Platt and Lajos turned up with two-set losses, finishing 6-7, 3-6, and 2-6, 3-6, respectively. Riley Jennings ’28 had to retire from the match early due to injury. Allen and Devraj were close to singles wins, going to three sets before losing, going 6-2, 2-6, 6-7 and 4-6, 7-6, 6-10 respectively. Jaycie Mair ’27 won her match in two sets, 6-0, 7-6. She scored the second big point for the Bison. With her contribution, the team finished 2-5 against Washington and Lee.
The Bison will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 14, to take on Marist.
