This past Saturday, the Bison faced a tough loss against Hobart at their home field. Although the Bison led the game 12-9 up until the middle of the fourth quarter, the Statesmen scored four straight goals, ultimately giving them the lead with just 2:30 left in the game.
Michael Meyer ʼ26 had five more assists added to his season tally bringing it to a career high of 14. Connor Davis ʼ25 also had reason to celebrate for his fourth consecutive game scoring four goals. He currently has 129 career goals and is just nine away from the all-time school leader. Lastly, a special shoutout to Sean Berrigan ʼ27 for a season-high of four points on two goals and two assists.
The game was off to a competitive start with Hobart scoring in the first minute before the Bison managed four quick and easy goals thanks to Henry Boykin ʼ27, Davis and Berrigan putting them in the lead. Hobart, however, did not stop fighting and scored a goal in the final few minutes of the quarter leaving the game at 4-2.
Immediately jumping into the second quarter, Hobart scored two goals tying up the score. Yet, the Bison quickly followed it up with two goals from Luke Brunner ʼ27 and Owen Kovacs ʼ26 midway through the second quarter. But, the Statesmen came back once again to tie the score 6-6 with just 1:08 left before the half.
As both teams entered back into play after the break, they each managed another goal. Then, the Orange and Blue snagged three consecutive goals from Berrigan, Davis and Will Hopkins ʼ26 to bring the score to 10-7. One more late goal by the Statesmen had the score officially at 10-8 by the end of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was an intense one as both Davis and Hopkins scored goals in response to another Hobart point and kept the three-point Bison lead with only 10:30 remaining. There was a lull in action before the Statesmen suddenly tied the game with only 6:07 left. After three minutes of intense equal play, the Bison thought they had the game-winning goal with only three minutes left in the fourth quarter. Hopkins had a chance after the Bison broke down the field in the transition with numbers, but his shot hit the crossbar and missed. Hobart quickly picked up the rebound and found the shot to end the game with only 2:30 left to play.
