Over the weekend, Bison Women’s Tennis fought hard against Colgate and Army but were defeated in the end. Colgate narrowly prevailed with a score of 4-3, while Army pushed ahead with a score of 4-0. The Orange and Blue now hold onto a 2-4 record in the Patriot League and a 9-10 overall record.
Cameron King ʼ28 and Jaycie Mair ʼ27 could not defeat their Colgate pairing. Caroline Marcus ʼ25 and Riley Jennings ʼ28 won their match 6-4, but the final doubles match on Court 1 went to extra points giving Colgate a 1-0 lead. Moving to singles play, Colgate won the first two matches, allowing them to gain a 3-0 lead. Anna Lajos ʼ25 changed the outlook, crushing her opponent 6-3, 6-1, earning the Bison their first point. Abby Platt ʼ26 and Jennings followed Lajos, defeating their opponents, Platt with scores 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Jennings with scores 2-6, 6-0, 6-3. The Orange and Blue fell to Colgate overall with a score of 4-3 but remained strong going into their matches the following day.
On Sunday, the Bison faced Army West Point. Army came out and took the first two doubles wins, with Whitney King ʼ25 and Platt ending their doubles match at a standstill, 5-5. Singles play did not pan out successfully for the Bison. W. King triumphed in one set but could not secure the win. The Bison girls lost overall with a score of 0-4.
