Comeback victory spurs women’s lacrosse past St. Francis

The Bison rallied past Saint Francis in a comeback 13-10 victory on Feb. 25 at home on Graham Field. After the first half, things did not look did not look too great for the women’s team. Quickly into the half, Saint Francis was up 2-0. Sam Rickels ’16 scored the first goal for the Bison, unassisted. Then there was a bit of back and forth action, and the Orange and Blue trailed by as many as three goals. Saint Francis was winning after the first half, 7-5.

This, however, did not stop the Bison. Maddy Molinari ’17 scored two goals tying the game. The women continued to dominate the second half and scored a total of eight goals; Saint Francis only scored three.

One of the more dominating players of the game was Claire Switala ’15, who scored a total of five goals on five shots. Christina Manis ’17 had a total of four assists. The Bison had 30 shots on goal while Saint Francis had a mere 20.

There were only five penalties in the game and all of them occurred in the second half. Three yellow cards were against the Bison, and two were against Saint Francis.

The Orange and Blue are currently 2-2. On Feb. 28, the Orange and Blue will travel to Villanova.
