The Bison men’s water polo team has a reason to celebrate after its performance Nov. 5 and 6. The Orange and Blue beat conference opponents Fordham University, Wagner College, and Johns Hopkins University in Kinney Natatorium to finish their regular season play as the number one seeded team in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference.

The 18-13 win over Fordham was the result of combined efforts from Sean Daley ’17, Nate Hunter ’17, Tommy Stupp ’18, and the rest of the Bison.

The title of first seed was earned in an 11-6 victory over Wagner, which took place as the Orange and Blue celebrated Senior Night. All four seniors on the team scored goals during this celebration. Additionally, John McBride, the Bison’s head coach, marked his men’s water polo 100th career win with the victory against Wagner.

Rade Joksimovic ’20 contributed to his season total of 124 goals this weekend with 10 of those scored against Fordham alone. Joksimovic has earned the fourth highest single-season record for goals in the team’s history.

Another standout performance from Joksimovic contributed to the Orange and Blue’s 17-10 victory over Johns Hopkins. Joksimovic went on to be named Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Rookie of the Week for the seventh time during the 2016 season. He boasted 17 goals, five steals, an assist, and drew four ejections during the Bison’s busy 3-0 weekend.

After this weekend, the Orange and Blue have earned an overall record of 20-4 with a conference record of 9-1. This is the first 20-win season for the Bison since 2007 and they rank 13th nationally going into the post-season. The Bison will compete in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Championship tournament against Connecticut College at home on Nov. 18.
