Taylor Swift takes on her NFL era

Rumors have been circulating about the supposed love story between 12-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Fans have gotten their answers after seeing Swift spend her last two Sundays cheering on the Chiefs in a box with none other than the Kelce family and other celebrities.

Last weekend, Swift was spotted sitting with Kelce’s mother Donna as they watched the Chiefs defeat the Chicago Bears. Swift was then recorded leaving the Stadium with Kelce himself. The following weekend, Swift was back in the bleachers. This time, she was cheering on the Chiefs at MetLife alongside Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Sophie Turner, Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman in a private box.

We know all too well that Taylor Swift’s popularity spans far and wide. Her appearances at the Chiefs games have done more than trend on social media. Swift has impacted the sale of tickets and jerseys after only two games. In anticipation of her appearance the following weekend at MetLife, sales jumped 40 percent. In addition to that, CNN reports that the NFL saw the most amount of tickets purchased in a single day ever. According to Variety, the Jets sold more than double the amount of tickets for their game against the Chiefs. Travis Kelce’s jersey sales have also been up about 400 percent.

Swift’s attendance has also boosted TV ratings. The Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears was the “highest among female demographics” according to Variety. NFL Sunday ratings jumped to about 24.3 million viewers as well.

Swift’s presence also impacted fans betting on Kelce for Sunday’s game. According to DraftKings, almost twice as much money was wagered on Kelce. In addition to that, one of the most popular bets was placed on Kelce scoring a touchdown of at least 22 yards. FanDuel also saw an increase in bets involving Kelce and Swift references such as “red” and 22.

As the NFL gets further and further into the season, Swift’s impact only has the potential to grow even larger and never go out of style. Even if Swift and Kelce are not end game, sales and media attention will only grow as this relationship evolves.
