This past weekend, Women’s Rowing competed in the Saint Joseph’s Invitational against several teams including Patriot League rival Navy, Saint Josephs and UCONN, among other schools. This was the Bison’s first multi-team regatta of the spring season.
To start the day the Varsity Eight finished second to Saint Joseph’s, falling nine seconds behind with a time of 8:00.396 on the 2000-meter course on Overpeck Creek. In their second race of the day, the Orange and Blue finished third after Navy and Rhode Island. They recorded a time of 8:01.155, led by coxswain Juliette Gaggini ’24 and stroke Abby Gerst ’24.
The second varsity eight for the Bison performed strongly in their first race of the day, recording a time of 8:11.995, which was 12 seconds in front of UCONN and 40 seconds ahead of Saint Josephs. They were led by coxswain Hattie Hopper ’26 and stroke Cecilia Dial ’26. In their second race, they placed third following URI and Navy.
As for the third varsity eight, the Bison finished behind Columbia for their first race and placed first in their four team race against Rhode Island, UCONN and George Washington with a time of 8:16.403.
Women’s Rowing competes next in Fairfax, V.A. this Saturday in the George Mason Invitational.
