Both Men’s and Women’s Track and Field placed first overall at the Gulden Invitational, scoring 182 and 218.33 points respectively as three Bison put their names into All-Time lists. Held in Lewisburg’s very own Gerhard Fieldhouse, the Orange and Blue hosted their second of four scheduled meets this indoor season.
Schools from across the Mid-Atlantic took the trip to Central Pennsylvania to compete on the Bison’s 200-meter indoor track, including Binghamton and Wagner from New York and local foes Lafayette and Saint Francis.
Wade Shomper ’26 set a new school record en route to a second place finish in the shot put, throwing a mark of 57-8.25 feet, nearly a foot longer than the mark he set back in early December at the Bison Opener. Brandon Foust ’25 took home first place in the 60 meter dash in 6.86 seconds, just .03 shy of a lifetime best. Preston Lubeski ’27 continued the Orange and Blue’s success in the sprints, running 50.67 seconds to claim the top spot in the 400 meters. The trio of Zachary Jelinek ’26, JP Byrnes ’27 and Jackson DiRoma ’28 went 1-2-4 in the 1000 meters, running 2:32.77, 2:33.98 and 2:34.64 respectively to claim 23 points for the Bison.
Peter Sorensen ’25 and David Carillo ’28 went 1-2 in the 5000 meters to cap off the open events for the Orange and Blue. Both the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 meter relays found the finish line first with the team of Luke Petryna ’28, Amani Brown ’27, Lubeski and Colby Belczyk ’25 winning in 3:21.82 and the group of Jelinek, Jayson Harmer ’26, Byrnes and Carter Paul ’27 in 7:59.73.
Cami Burkett ’28 started the meet off strong with a mark of 7.87 seconds over 60 meters to finish fifth overall and slot herself in at #9 all-time. The Bison dominated the shot put, sweeping the top five and taking 33 of the available 39 points. Justley Sharp ’27 took home first place, throwing 49-11 feet. Madison Fowler ’28 and Christine Ajao ’25 placed second and third, throwing 46-06.25 and 45-07 feet respectively. Fowler’s throw placed her seventh on the all-time shot put list. Anna Posh ’25 placed first in the 400 meters running 59.34, as the Bison swept the top three with Alison Cooke ’26 and Alexa Goll ’28 finishing behind her.
Sarah Policano ’25 took home top honors in the 800 meters running 2:19.84 for the win. Kerry O’Day ’28 and Regan McGrath ’27 went 1-2 in the 1000 meters in 3:00.11 and 3:02.70 respectively. The Orange and Blue completed the sweep of all relays as the team of Katrina Torelli ’27, Shaelan McNally ’28, Laura Posh ’27 and Katie Moncavage ’28 ran 9:43.98 to win by over 15 seconds in the 4×800. Goll, Madeline Sipe ’28, Cooke and Posh combined to run 4:04.16 in the 4 x 400.
The Bison continue their season on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 as they split their time between the Bison Open and Multi as well as the Penn State National Open.
