Men’s and Women’s Track and Field competed at their final home meet of the indoor season on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Bucknell Tune-Up, picking up seven wins and three marks for the record books in the process. The meet, held at Gerhard Fieldhouse, brought Patriot League rivals Lehigh and Lafayette to Lewisburg as they looked to get their last opportunity to compete before the Patriot League Championships.
The field events started off Friday night for the Bison with Momo Peters ’27 picking up second in the Long Jump soaring 21-3.05 feet while the duo of Gabriel Pecaitis ’28 and Luke Williams ’27 both cleared marks of 15-07.00 feet to go 1-2 in the Pole Vault. Aiden Tacker ’26 continued the Orange and Blue successes in the Weight Throw, hurling a mark of 62-00.25 feet, good for second place and sixth all-time for the Bison.
Garret Backus ’27 kept it going in the running events placing second in the 60 meters with a time of 7.93 seconds, 10th all-time in the Orange and Blue annals. Connor Goldfarb ’27 and Zachary Jelinek ’26 placed third and fourth in the 400 meters, running 51.33 and 51.35 seconds respectively. The Orange and Blue were dominant in the Mile with the team of Hayden Singer ’27, Carter Paul ’27, Ethan-Pratt Perez ’28, Lucas Ward ’27 and Mason Siebenhaar ’25 sweeping the top five, running marks of 4:14.09, 4:14.64, 4:15.85, 4:20.54 and 4:21.81 respectively.
The Bison continued their long-distance dominance in the 3000 meters, replicating their placements in the Mile, with the team of Mason Barlow ’27, Grant Kern ’26, Trent Dinant ’26, Peter Sorensen ’25 and Dave Carillo ’28 once again sweeping the top five spots. Barlow ran 8:40.12 for the win while the rest ran 8:42.21, 8:42.55, 8:42.74 and 8:44.15 respectively. The Shot Put was the final event of the night with Wade Shomper ’26 tossing a mark of 57-04.75 feet for second place, just a bit off his school record. Brayden Stryker ’25 was right behind Shomper, reaching 54-02.00 for fourth place and adding his name to the Bison record books at a tie for eighth.
The women found similar success throughout the night with the team of Maddie Fowler ’28, Isabelle Roes ’26 and Prizila Negrete ’27 going 2-3-4 with marks of 55-06.50, 53-05.50 and 53-02.75 respectively in the Weight Throw. In the 60 meters, it was a sweep of the top three with Ava Lomberto ’28, Ella Vogel ʼ28 and Amanda Agambire ’26 running 7.99, 8.05 and 8.06 respectively. That same trio ran it back in the 200 meters with similar success, as they went 1-3-5 with Vogel running 26.49, Agambire running 26.72 and Lomberto running 26.89.
Anna Posh ’25 was the lone runner in the 500 meters, putting down a time of 1:16.10 for the top spot. The duo of Grace Vives ’26 and Katrina Torelli ’27 went 1-3 in the 800 meters, putting down times of 2:17.10 and 2:19.53 respectively. Hailey Reinhard ’27 was the top collegian in the Mile, blazing 5:14.00 for second overall. Megan Baggetta ’27 found success in the Triple Jump, reaching a mark of 37-08.75 feet for second place. Negrete and Fowler ended the night on a high note with the two placing second and third overall in the Shot Put, tossing marks of 44-11.75 and 44-04.75 feet respectively.
The Bison now prepare for Patriot League Indoor Championships held in Annapolis, Md. at the US Naval Academy on March 1 and 2.
