Men’s and Women’s Track and Field competed at the Bucknell Tune Up on Friday, Feb. 20, picking up 13 event wins in their last meet before Patriot League Indoor Championships.
Michael Devine ’29 started the meet strong in the 5000 meters, running 15:18.16 for the victory, almost a minute ahead of second place. Mason Barlow ’27 continued the Bison’s distance successes, winning the 3000 meters with a time of 8:45.80, less than half a second ahead of Ryan Pepperman ’29 in second place.
This marks Barlow’s third consecutive win of the indoor season and a new season-best time in the event. Cooper Hyken ’26 was the final gold-medalist for the Orange and Blue on Friday as he blazed a 6.94-second time in the 60-meters. Hyken would have to share the top spot on the podium, however, as a Shippensburg Raider tied him exactly at 6.94 seconds.
On the other side, Grace Camerlingo ’29 also found the top spot in the 60-meters, running 7.56 seconds to beat out teammate Piper Portacio ’29 in second place. Abby Michaelson ’27 would find similar success in the 400 meters, running 58.50 seconds to just barely beat out Jenna Wright ’28.
In the middle-distances, Katie Moncavage ’28 led a sweep of the top four spots in the 800-meters, running 2:15.19 for the win, as Grace Vives ’26, Madeline Kerr ’29 and Isabella Johns ’27 were right behind her. Katrina Torelli ’27 would do the same in the 1 Mile, running 4:57.27 to lead Hailey Reinhard ’27, Kerry O’Day ’28 and Laura Posh ’27 to a 1-2-3-4 finish. In the 5000-meters, Lauren Joyce ’26 led yet another 1-2-3-4 finish, as Sara Bronson ’29, Sophia Douglas ’29 and Cassidy Roop ’28 finished not far behind her 18:21.56 time.
The Bison found similar success in the field as well, led by Maddie Fowler ’28, with two wins. Fowler tossed marks of 44-02.75 and 61-00.75 feet in the shot put and weight throw, respectively.
Elizabeth Bryant ’26 cleared a height of 12-01.50 feet for the top spot in the pole vault, while Kate Harnish ’29, Sierra Strasser ’28 and Sienna Steeber ’28 went 2-3-4 behind her. Liliana Wakenshaw ’28 found the top spot in the high jump with a clearance of 5-05.00 feet. Allie DeMatt ’29 leaped 38-07.75 for the victory in the triple jump.
Track and Field continues its season on Saturday, Feb. 28, and Sunday, Mar. 1, at the Patriot League Indoor Championships, hosted by Boston University.
