Men’s and Women’s Track and Field competed at the Penn Classic over the weekend, adding two all-time marks to the record books. The meet was held at the Ott Center for Track and Field, a nearly $70 million facility opened in November of last year. The field in Philadelphia consisted of many of the top teams on the East Coast including Georgetown, Princeton and Villanova as well as professional runners for Adidas and Under Armour.
Angelo Regec ’25 started the meet off strong for the Bison throwing 53-0.75 feet in the weight throw, a personal best which was good for sixth place. Jeff Cianfrocca ’26 finished in a tie for fourth place in the high jump, clearing 6-06.75 feet. The trio of Gabe Pecaitis ’28, Michael Chernova ’27 and Luke Williams ’27 all cleared 15 feet in the pole vault, with Pecaitis clearing a mark of 15-11.75 feet, the sixth highest mark in Orange and Blue history. Jason Lessieu ’28 continued the dominance in the long jump, leaping 21-11.75 feet for third place. Teammates Momo Peters ’28 and Joshua Tipton ’27 were right behind him in fifth and sixth jumping 21-10 and 21-06.25 feet, respectively.
In the mile, it was Henry Didden ’26 who led the way for the Bison running 4:12.87 for 12th overall in a field where two went under four minutes. Brandon Foust ’25 just missed the finals in the 60-meter dash, running 6.95 seconds. Braiden Pulver ’28 placed fourth overall in the shot put, launching a personal best of 52-04.50. In the 3000 meters, Jayson Harmer ’26 cracked the top ten running 8:18.92, good for ninth place.
On the women’s side, it was the trio in the weight throw that started things off for the Bison. Christine Ajao ’25, Prizila Negrete ’27 and Isabelle Roes ’26 placed first, third and fifth throwing 55-10.50, 53-03.75 and 51-11.25, respectively. In the mile, Kerry O’Day ’28 and Sarah Policano ’25 both went under five minutes, running 4:56.44 and 4:56.61 for 11th and 12th respectively. Noelani Sadler ’28 ran 8.84 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to qualify before going 8.93 seconds in the final for eighth overall.
Alex Lea ’28 finished fourth in the 400 meters, blazing a time of 57.18 seconds. The duo of Katie Moncavage ’28 and Anna Posh ’25 placed fifth and sixth in the 800 meters, running 2:13.17 and 2:13.64, respectively. Moncavage’s mark places her in a tie for eighth all-time in Bison history. Justley Sharp ’27 continued the dominance in the throws, heaving 48-6.25 feet in the shot put to win the event. Caryn Rippey ’26 went under 10 minutes in the 3000 meters, good for a 3rd place finish.
The Orange and Blue continue their season in Lynchburg, Va. as they take on the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational at Liberty University on Feb. 14 and 15.
