Men’s and Women’s Track and Field competed at the Lafayette Open in Easton, PA on Saturday, picking up 17 event wins and 7 all-time marks.
Cassidy Roop ’28 started the meet off strong with a win in the 3000-meter steeplechase, running 12:18.09 while Haylee Erme ’27 was right behind her in 12:23.20. Bradley Weldon ’27, Anna Caruthers ’28 and Kaitlyn Segreti ’25 continued the Bison success in the distance events, running 4:54.20, 4:56.91 and 4:59.08 respectively in the 1500 meters to sweep the podium spots. Noelani Sadler ’28 picked up the win in the 100-meter hurdles, running 14.15, over a half second ahead of second place and good for second all-time in Orange and Blue history.
Caryn Rippey ’26 won the 800 meters, putting down a mark of 2:20.05, ahead of teammates Isabella Johns ’27 and Hailey Reinhard ’27, who placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively, with times 2:23.27 and 2:24.11. Ella Derstine ’25 finished off the sweep of hurdle events for the Bison women, running 1:07.05 for 1st in the 400 hurdles. Likewise, Tori Chace ’26 helped the Orange and Blue complete the distance sweep, placing 1st in the 5000 meters, running 19:57.92.
In the throws, Madison Fowler ’28 started it off for the Bison, hurling a mark of 171-00 feet for 2nd overall and eighth all-time in the Orange and Blue record books for women’s hammer. Madelyn Hudak ’27 took home gold in the javelin, tossing a mark of 130-05 feet. Christine Ajao ’25 continued the success, claiming first with a throw of 46-04.25 feet in the shot put. Finally in the field, Liz Bryant ’26 won the pole vault, clearing 11-05.75 feet.
For the men, it was the 110m hurdle duo of Brian Scotto ’25 and Ethan Knight ’28 who started things off for the Bison. Scotto placed 1st with a time of 14.47 while Knight ran 14.78 for third overall. Their marks place them at sixth and 10th all-time in the Bison annals. Knight would go on to do the hurdle double, placing first this time in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 55.91.
In the 100 meters, Cooper Hyken ’26 and Luke Petryna ’28 dropped all-time marks with Hyken blazing a 10.66 for 6th place and 8th all-time while Petryna went 10.67 for seventh and 10th all-time. David Carillo ’28 picked up the win in the 5000 meters in 15:35.20.
In the throws, the men found similar success in the shot put with Wade Shomper ’26 throwing 54-05.25 for 1st while Braden Stryker ’25 and Braiden Pulver ’28 followed behind in second and third with marks of 53-03.75 and 50-00.75, respectively. Aiden Tacker ’26 picked up the top spot in the hammer throw with a heave of 186-09 feet. The trio of Angelo Regec ’25, Robert Lerner ’26 and Keenan LaMontagne ’26 swept the discus with marks of 161-02, 159-11 and 158-00 feet respectively.
Chris Sims ’25 took the top spot in the triple jump reaching the pit at 47-11 feet, a mark that if not wind-aided would be in the Bison record books.
The Orange and Blue continue their season next week in Williamsburg, VA where they will take on the Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary.
