Bucknell Women’s Tennis completed its second tournament of the fall at West Point, New York, for a three-day tournament. Natalie Devraj ’28 and Tori Allen ’27 won their doubles matches on the first day, and Mariana Shulman ’29 led the team in singles on day two. On the final day, Mirra Manolov ’26 and Kate Purpura ’29 won both their doubles matches to close the Bison out on a successful weekend.
The Bison started strong on their first day, Friday, Sept. 26. The Orange and Blue won five of their eight doubles matches; Devraj and Allen started the momentum with their win together against Sacred Heart, 8-6. Devraj won again, 8-6 in doubles later in the day, but with Jaycie Mair ’27 as her partner. Allen also continued her doubles winning streak, playing with Summer Even-Esh ’29, 8-4 against Quinnipiac. Cameron King ’28 and Manolov together beat Quinnipiac 8-7, then competed separately with other teammates. Abby Platt ’26 and Riley Jennings ’28 also bested a win 8-4, but lost their other two matches together to go 1-2 for the day.
On Saturday, the Orange and Blue kicked off singles play. Shulman defeated two out of three of her opponents, the best of any Bison for the day. She was the only Bison to defeat Quinnipiac, going 8-3 against her opponent. Allen, King and Manolov took victories against Fairleigh Dickinson, going 8-4, 8-3 and 8-5, respectively.
The Bison closed out the invitational on Sunday, wrapping up some doubles and singles matches. Manolov and Purpura won their doubles match against Fairleigh Dickinson and NJIT, going 8-7 and 8-3, respectively. Even-Esh and Shulman also defeated their NJIT opponent 8-6. Following doubles, the Bison earned wins in three out of four singles matches. Platt and King won their games each 8-5, and Jennings found success in her match, 8-4.
The Bison will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3-4, for the Eastern Kentucky Invitational.
