Volleyball went 1-1 over the weekend, falling to American in straight sets on Oct. 3 and defeating Loyola on Oct. 4, 3-1.
In Davis Gym on Friday, the Bison took on American, who were 10-4 overall with a three-game winning streak coming into Lewisburg. The Eagles ran away from the Orange and Blue midway through the set, taking a 14-9 lead, eventually taking the set 25-17, despite a 3-1 Bison run. In the second set the Bison kept it even at the start, before American pulled away at 5-5, leading 15-8 after a 10-3 run, as the Eagles would claim the set 25-16. In the third set, the Bison won the first point, but American’s 7-0 run in the middle of the set allowed the Eagles to win the set 25-12. Following the loss to Colgate, this was the second time in a row that the Bison were swept.
On Saturday, still at home, the Orange and Blue looked to rebound from their loss and break a two-game losing streak. The Greyhounds went into this match with a two-game losing streak of their own, having won just four games this season. The Bison claimed the first set fueled by an 8-2 rally that went off with the score locked at 7-7. Loyola made it close, inching back to 22-20, but a 3-0 run marked by a Riley Tucker ’26 claimed the set. The second set was a close affair with the score locked at 14-14, before the Bison started to outpace the Greyhounds, leading 24-19. Kaitlyn Taylor ’27 ended the set with a kill. After a third set in which Loyola won 25-15, avoiding the sweep, the Orange and Blue started the fourth set with an 8-1 lead. While they led by over five points for most of the set, the Greyhounds clawed back to 20-17 until a service error sealed the match for the Bison. With this win, the Orange and Blue moved to third place in the Patriot League standings, tied with Army.
Volleyball continues conference play, facing off against the service academies as they play Army on Oct. 10 and Navy on Oct. 11.
