On Friday, Nov. 21, the Orange and Blue began a three-day event, each taking on six visiting teams. At the end of the weekend, the women’s team placed third of the seven teams and the men came in seventh.
The first day held the first four events for both teams. The 200-yard freestyle relay started the day off strong with the Orange and Blue securing a time of 1:33.02, the fourth best in team history. Victoria Castro ’29 started the first leg, followed by Sara Ketron ’27, Jennifer Bolden ’26 and Kyla Kelly ’26, finishing with a time just .32 off the school’s record. The diving team also managed to score points for the Bison on the 3-meter dive. The Orange and Blue ended in fourth place, just 32.5 points behind Fordham.
The other half of the Bison accumulated a total of 142 points. The best finish of the day was in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Drew Greene ’27, Finn Russell ’27, Colin Smith ’27 and Dante Buonadonna ’28 finished with a time of 1:21.52, coming in eighth and just .07 seconds out of the top ten record for the team. The Orange and Blue were in seventh place going into Saturday.
The Bison were able to move up to third with a strong day two. Kelly Byrne ’27 and Clara Renner ’28 had a second and third finish for the 400-yard individual medley, giving them both a place in the Orange and Blue top ten for the event, as Renner’s 4:16.85 from last time is second all-time. The rest of the Bison also started the day with a new name in the record book. Drew Davis ’29 swam a 49.33 backstroke in the 400 medley relay, the sixth fastest 100-back in school history.
The Orange and Blue managed to reach 977 points on the final day of the contest. Castro, Kelly, Ketron and Bolden had another strong race in the 400 free relay. Their time of 3:23.73 gave them a fifth-place finish in the event. Renner and Sydney Dettmann ’27 both had top-five finishes in the 200 fly, coming in second and fifth, respectively. The Bison ended their Sunday and their weekend in third place.
On the men’s side, the Orange and Blue had a total of 581.50 points at the end of the weekend. Davis came in tenth for the 200 back with a time of 1:49.04. Davis also joined Greene, Russell and Smith for a ninth-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. After a tough weekend, the Bison ended in seventh overall to finish out their weekend.
Both teams travel to West Point on Jan. 10 for a dual meet against Army.
