Men’s and Women’s Track and Field competed at the Gulden Invitational, their second home meet of the year. Both teams earned the team title, with the men scoring 166 points and the women scoring 215.5 points.
The Bison men found six event wins, with three coming from the long-distance events. Mason Barlow ’27 earned the top spot in 3,000-meters with a time of 8:47.89. Teammate Andrew Young ’28 was not far behind him, taking third in 9:00.22. Henry Didden ’26 was the top finisher in the One-Mile, finding a narrow victory with a time of 4:17.91. Ethan Pratt-Perez ’28 finished the sweep of the distance events for the Bison, running 15:06.21 in the 5000-meters. Michael Devine ’29 wasn’t far behind him, running 15:14.55 for second place.
The Orange and Blue were also dominant in the relays, winning both the 4×400 and 4×800 events. The team of Nicholas Bouril ’29, Colin Burke ’29, Ethan Fianko ’29 and Eamon Golden ’29 combined to run 3:22.88, almost three seconds ahead of Lock Haven in second place. For the 4×800, JP Byrnes ’27, Adam Dicken ’29, Cooper Hollinger ’29 and Carter Paul ’27 found an easy victory, running 8:04.10, over six seconds ahead of the next fastest time. Paul found another win earlier in the day, claiming gold in the 1000-meters, running 2:29.93 to narrowly defeat a Binghamton runner.
For the women, Maddie Fowler ’28 was a standout performer, winning the Women’s Field MVP following her wins in the shot put and weight throw. In the shot put, she tossed a mark of 44-9.5 feet, the furthest throw by over three feet. In the weight throw, she claimed another dominant victory, with a mark of 56-6.75 feet, over four feet ahead of second place.
In the 800-meters, the trio of Madeline Kerr ’29, Katrina Torelli ’27 and Isabella Johns ’27 went 1-2-3, running times of 2:16.69, 2:17.84 and 2:18.0,6 respectively. In the One-Mile, the Bison found even more success, going 1-2-3-4 with the quartet of Grace Vives ’26, Kailey Granger ’27, Kerry O’Day ’28 and Hailey Reinhard ’27 running times of 5:02.16, 5:05:30, 5:05.38 and 5:05.81.
Bradley Weldon ’27 continued the Bison’s distance success, crossing the tape first in the 3000-meters with a time of 10:01.19. Granger also found her second podium finish of the day, finishing in third place with a time of 10:13.77.
The Orange and Blue’s last win of the day came in the 4×400 relay, where the team of Piper Portacio ’29, Megan Cain ’28, Grace Camerlingo ’29 and Raygan Lust ’29 found the win in 3:56.76.
The Bison continue their season today and tomorrow. Half the squad will compete in State College, Pa. and half will remain on campus to compete in the Bison Invitational and Multi.
