Bison javelin thrower, Evelyn Bliss ’27, participated in the Track & Field U20 World Championships last week and secured the bronze medal. This week she brings home the Bison of the Week award.
The U20 World Championships took place in Lima, Peru starting August 27th and ending August 31st. Bliss finished seventh in the opening round, allowing her to move on to the finals where she hit a 177-2 foot throw, securing her the bronze.
Bliss is not new to competing on the big stage. As a first-year, Bliss won the javelin throw at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, came in fifth at the NCAA East Regionals and participated in the NCAA National Championship, where she finished 13th and was named a Second Team All-American. After winning the U20 National Championships she kept going. The sophomore also competed at the Olympic Trials where she landed a sixth place finish throwing 183-2 feet, a career best.
Next up on the list for Bliss is her sophomore season at Bucknell where she will continue competing in the Patriot League.
