Katherine Vice ’27 won this week’s Bison of the Week honors after a strong fall opener at the Bucknell Invitational for Women’s Golf. Finishing +10, Vice was crowned the individual champion and led the Bison to a decisive team victory by 33 strokes.
Vice ended the first round co-leading with a 72 (+2), but fell down the leaderboard after a score of 77 in the second. Her 72 matched her career-best score until later in the event.
Sitting just behind the leaders after two days, Vice took charge in the third round with an eagle on the par five 15th hole and birdie on the 18th to card a career-low score of 71 and challenge the top leaders. After entering a playoff with her teammate, Joelle Johnson ’29, Vice took the victory and won the championship.
Vice’s performance also aided the Bison in their team victory for the championship. The team’s 590 in the first 36 holes set a school record, and the team won by 33 strokes.
Vice and Women’s Golf will be competing again on Monday, Sept. 15 in Delaware for Battle of the Creek, hosted by Sacred Heart University.
