Prizila Negrete ’27 is this week’s Bison Athlete of the Week after her stellar international performance at the 2025 Central American Games in Guatemala. She represented Honduras, where she placed fourth in the hammer throw and won the shot put event. Her toss of 13.74 meters not only won her gold amongst her competitors, but also set the meet record and national record for Honduras. Despite being the youngest competitor in both fields, Negrete showed grit and Bison strength to represent herself, Honduras and Bucknell in the competition.
Negrete also competed in other national meets over the summer. She competed with fellow teammate Evelyn Bliss ’27 at the North and Central American Championships in the Bahamas, and she also medaled in shot put and discus at the Central American Championships in Nicaragua.
