Amon Dörries ’29 of Bucknell Men’s Basketball was named Bison of the Week after a record-setting 36-point game in a 103-97 double-overtime victory against Boston University. In addition to being selected as the Bison Athlete of the Week, Dörries earned the Patriot League Rookie of the Week title for the second week straight and third time this season.
Dörries claimed Bucknell’s freshman scoring record after breaking the 48-year record of 31 points set by Al Leslie in 1978. In addition, Dörries set a new single-game scoring record for a Bucknell player at Sojka Pavilion. His 36 points were the most by a Bison in any venue since Andrew Funk’s 38 in the 2021-22 season.
The 36 points are the most by any Patriot League player this season and tied for eighth-most by any freshman Division I men’s basketball player this season.
Dörries went a new career-best 4-for-6 from beyond the arc, as well as 11-for-19 overall. He shot a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
He picked up 15 of his 36 points in the two overtime periods, which came after he forced extra time by tying the game with 32 seconds left in regulation.
He now averages 14.5 points per game on the season, ranking 11th in the Patriot League. In conference play, his 16.9 points per game sit him at ninth-best. Out of 10 Patriot League contests, he is shooting 55.8% from the field, 50.0% from the three-point line, and 81.1% from the free throw line.
