Baseball split its series against Radford. The Bison faced the Highlanders in a three-game series on Feb. 20 and 21.
In game one, the Orange and Blue out-hit their opponent but still fell in the overall game. This marks the third time in the young season that this has occurred.
Right-hander Jonathan Adelmann ’27 got the start in game one, tossing five full innings with four earned runs on five hits.
Two errors from Bucknell handed Radford runners in scoring position before a sac fly, and a couple of hits gave the Highlanders a 3-0 lead after the second inning. After tallying another run in the fourth, Radford extended the lead to 7-0 in the seventh.
Michael Trommer ’26 went two-for-four at the plate, but was stranded both times. Zach Selfon ’27 drove in Bucknell’s only run of the game in the ninth. The Bison fell in game one 7-1.
However, day two was a different story, as the Orange and Blue earned their first win of the year.
In the first game of a Saturday doubleheader, the Bison were defeated in extra innings. Then, Bucknell was able to notch its first win of the campaign.
Brady Hoar ’29 was fantastic in his start on the mound, tossing six innings and allowing just one hit to go along with three strikeouts.
Trommer notched his second home run of the year as the Bison tallied four runs on nine hits en route to a 4-1 victory.
The Bison will be playing against Merrimack at home today.
