Women’s Tennis had a strong first weekend at home in the Bucknell Invitational, winning all four singles groups and two out of three doubles groups.

Anna Lajos ’25, Abby Platt ’26 and Tori Allen ’27 won the Blue, Orange and White singles groups respectively. Jaycie Mair ’27 and Mirra Manolov ’26 each tied as victors in the Grey group.

Bucknell also won the Blue and Orange doubles groups, with Platt and Whitney King ’25 grabbing Blue and Lajos and Caroline Marcus ’25 grabbing Orange. The lone doubles loss came in the White group where St. Francis (Pa.) took the title.

Lajos, Platt, Manolov, Allen and Mair all went 3-0 in their singles matchups for the weekend, including a 6-0, 6-0 shutout from Mair against her opponent on Sunday. In doubles, King and Platt dominated their matchups by a combined score of 18-4.

“One characteristic that this team embodies is unity and that allowed us to be as successful as we were this weekend. Everyone was cheering for each and every match that was played and it really felt like we were all one unit supporting one another,” said Manolov after this weekend’s victorious matches.

Women’s Tennis heads to Pittsburgh next on Friday, Sept. 15 to compete in the Carnegie Mellon Invite.
