Men’s Golf opens season with strong finish at Alex Lagowitz Memorial

The Bucknell Men’s Golf team began its season this past weekend in Hamilton, N.Y., coming in fourth out of a 13-team field at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational at Seven Oaks Golf Club.

This year’s team features a younger roster than years past, as Max Orwicz is the team’s stand-alone senior, and Jake Maddaloni and Michael Rudnick are the team’s only juniors. That trio represents the team’s captains for this coming year, however, this weekend’s lineup consisted of two first-years, three sophomores and one junior.

After posting a 301 in their first round of the season on Sat. morning, the Bison rallied with a one under round of 287 Saturday afternoon to push the Bison up into seventh place heading into Sunday morning’s round three. Sophomores Andres Barraza-Camara and James Robbins led the team’s strong second round, shooting three-under and two-under for the round, respectively.

On Sunday, Alex Creamean ’27 shot two under par with a round score of 70, leading the Bison to a total score of 288 for the third and final round. This par score was good enough to push the Bison three spots up the board, as the Bison and Seton Hall (-1) were the only two teams to shoot at or below par during the third round.

The Bison finished the weekend with an overall score of 876, finishing in fourth place behind Seton Hall (871) in third, Villanova (870) in second and Yale (853) in first. Fellow Patriot League program Lehigh rounded out the top five teams for the weekend, shooting a total of 880.

The Bison look to build on this success as they head to the Cornell Invitational this upcoming weekend, hosted at Watchung Valley Country Club in N.J..
