Men’s Golf has strong weekend in Arizona

Men’s Golf competed in the Loyola Intercollegiate across the last three days at Palm Valley Golf Club. The Bison got out to a hot start, especially for Andres Barraza ’26.

Barraza birdied seven of his first ten holes on day one, en route to a -1 score of 71, making him the low Bison on the first day of the event. He was on a record-setting pace on the front nine with his birdies, but a few double bogeys on the back set him aside.

James Key ’26 also notched five birdies during his opening round to finish with an even-par 72. The Bison also counted a 74 from Alex Creamean ’27 and a 77 from Michael Rudnick ’25 on day one.

The Orange and Blue sat in 16th place, and six shots outside of the top ten, after day one of the event.

On day two, it was all about Creamean.

The first-year phenom shattered the Bison record with a -8 score of 64. After starting his round with a bogey, he went for four birdies and an eagle on the front nine to shoot -6 on the front. After three more birdies on the back, Creamean locked in a 64.

Barraza also had a notable day for himself, tallying eight more birdies en route to a career-best -5 score of 67.

With these two posting career-bests, the Bison tied its school record with a -7 team score. The Bison now sat at T13th place in the team leaderboard entering the final round.

The Orange and Blue saw three players score in red numbers to propel the team into the top ten.

Barraza went for a -4 68, Rudnick fired a -3 69, and Creamean backed up his school record with a -1 71.

The Bison posted under-par team scores on days two and three to bring the squad up into the top ten after being in 16th after the first round, finishing in 10th place with a -6 final team score.

Barraza was the low Bison for the event with a final tally of -10, Creamean finished in T10 at -7, and these two were the only Bison inside the top 65 individually for the tournament.

The Bison compete next in the Bash at the Beach on March 11th-12th at Surf Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, SC.
