Bucknell Men’s Golf headed to Colgate University to compete in the Alex Lagowitz Memorial at Seven Oaks Golf Club from Aug. 31 through Sept. 1.
Day one of the tournament was shortened. Rain delays kept 15 teams in the event limited to just 18 holes instead of 36.
Hayden Quinn ’27 led the way for the Bison out of the gate, firing a -1 score of 71. After a sluggish start on the front nine, Quinn got going on the back with four birdies and no bogeys en route to a -4 tally of 32. He sat in eighth place individually before day two, four shots behind the leaders.
Other Bison whose scores counted on day one were Michael Rudnick ’25 and James Key ’26, who both shot 75s. Patrick Pritsios ’28 followed with a 78 of his own before Lyman Brackett ’28 and Jack Hartman ’28 rounded out the Orange and Blue with 78s on the card after the first round. Bucknell sat in 10th place with a combined score of 298 (+10).
After the rain delay, the second day of the event was set for a 36-hole shotgun start at 9 a.m..
Quinn came out firing once again, securing a top-five finish and the second top-ten finish of his career behind a -2 round of 70. Quinn birdied four holes on the day and was the low Bison in both rounds.
“The top five finish is cool but it’s just one tournament with a long road ahead.” Quinn said, “I’m trying to view this season as a long-term process with the overall goal just being to get better. I feel if I do that the score will naturally come.”
Rudnick followed Quinn up with an even-par score of 70 behind five birdies to finish in a tie for 23rd individually on the weekend. Pritsios finished with a 73, Key went 75-76 and Hartman tallied scores of 78-75.
Bucknell improved its positioning with a 290 (+2) on Sunday, finishing in a tie for sixth place. The team’s next action is in the Navy Invitational at the USNA Golf Club from Sept. 21 through 22.
