On Sunday, Oct. 19, Women’s Soccer hosted Navy. This game was particularly special for the Bison as they honored their seven seniors: Jess Benattar ’26, Henna Andican ’26, Ally Flaherty ’26, Klio Kokolis ’26, Meghan White ’26, Sydney Hess ’26 and Reilly Traynor ’26.
The game ended in a 1-1 tie after the Orange and Blue equalized with a late goal in the 86th minute of play. This was the first goal for the Bison after a four-game drought.
Navy started the scoring in the 9th minute of play and held off the Bison for most of the game. The game finished with Navy having a shot advantage of 15-10. Goalkeeper Reese Dolan ’28 tallied eight saves, while Navy tallied four.
The Bison had generated multiple scoring chances, and Andican capitalized with five minutes left to play. Dani Howard ’29 received a pass from center midfielder Louisa Thomsen ’28 and sent a perfect ball between two center backs for Andican to run onto. Andican took control and tucked away the shot from the top of the 18-yard box, into the left side of the goal. This goal for Andican marked her sixth of the season and kept her as the leading scorer for the Bison.
The Bison are just shy of making the playoffs and have two more games to clinch their spot.
Next, on Saturday, Oct. 25, the Bison will head to New York to face off against Colgate.
