Volleyball continued its season with its second matchup against Navy on Saturday, Oct. 18. The Bison lost to the Midshipmen in four sets for another consecutive loss against Navy. The Orange and Blue captured the first set, but ultimately fell in the following three.
The Bison finished with 50 kills, a .206 hitting percentage and a first-set hitting percentage of .333. Tijana Kostic ’26 led the team with 17 kills and included 14 digs. Riley Tucker ’26 contributed from the middle with 12 kills and six blocks.
The contest proved tough from the first set, as both teams tied 10 times with five lead changes. After a 5-0 run by the Orange and Blue halfway through the set, the Bison held the lead at 24-21. Despite two points then scored by Navy, the Bison took the final point to win the set with a block by Sidney Shaffer ’27 and Klea Tarja ’29.
The second set followed with a similar battle of six lead changes. Despite the Bison’s early advantage, Navy ultimately moved ahead towards the end 23-20, and then claimed the set 25-23.
The third set was the closest of the four, posting 11 ties and seven lead changes. However, once the score hit 15-15, the Midshipmen took off on a 9-3 run to claim their second set victory of the match. This momentum carried them into the fourth set where they would go on to take the match 3-1, giving the Bison another loss to their schedule.
The Orange and Blue look to change the tide on the road at their upcoming games against Loyola Maryland and American this weekend.
