For the second weekend in a row, Volleyball dominated its weekend conference matches, but this time at home against Holy Cross and Colgate. The Bison started against the Crusaders on Friday night, where they took a 4-1 win. Sidney Shaffer ’27 shone by setting the program record for hitting percentage per game, with a whopping .800 over the previous .727 from her teammate, Riley Tucker ’26. This momentum carried into Saturday’s match against Colgate, where the Bison fought for a five-set win.
Friday night’s match was electric in Davis Gym, as the Orange and Blue were coming off two wins from last week. Shaffer led the team in kills, landing 16 out of her 20 total attempts. This equaled out to an .800 hitting percentage that currently leads the Patriot League. Her performance earned her Patriot League Player of the Week honors. Bella Rodriguez ’28 also contributed to the team’s success with 15 kills, and Bri Frazilus ’26 posted a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs. Setters Laura Caro ’26 and Caleigh O’Connell ’26 tallied 25 and 26 assists, respectively. Cameron Lloyd ’27 added to the statistics with 31 digs of her own to give the Bison 81 overall. The Bison overall outperformed Holy Cross, beating them in kills (61-58) and hitting percentage (.266-.233).
Saturday’s home game proved a bit tougher for the Bison as they faced four-time reigning Patriot League Champion Colgate. The Orange and Blue nipped the five-set win with four players hitting double-digit kills. Tijana Kostic ’26 led with a career-high of 20 kills, and Shaffer followed behind with 13. Frazilus’s 11 and Rodriguez’s 10 rounded out the outstanding offensive performance. Lloyd led the defense again with 24 digs and even 10 assists. Her performance in the back of the court earned her Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for a second time. The game started in favor of the Bison as they won the first two sets, 25-18 and 28-26. However, the Raiders aimed to end the run by taking the third and fourth sets, pushing it all to the fifth. The Bison bounced back in the final set to end it all with a win, 15-10.
The Bison will be back in action at home against Army to round out the regular season and celebrate their seniors.
