Football snapped a three-game losing streak over the weekend with a 37-19 win on the road over Fordham. The victory brings the Bison’s record to 5-5 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Christopher Dietrich ’28 was at quarterback once again as starter Ralph Rucker IV ’26 recovered from injury, and the sophomore put together his best outing this season, throwing for 166 yards and three touchdowns in the win over the 1-9 Rams.
The Orange and Blue took a commanding lead early, beginning with a 48-yard boot from Matt Schearer ’26 to find a 3-0 lead. The Bison would find the end zone for the first time before the end of the first quarter. Nate Anderson ’26 recovered a fumble forced by Drew Cormier ’27, and the Bison would capitalize off a 10-yard touchdown completion from Dietrich to Michael Cadden ’28.
The Orange and Blue would increase its lead in the second quarter in dramatic fashion. After forcing a Fordham punt, Charlie Kreinbucher ’26 blocked the kick that was recovered for a score by Jack Goheen ’26 for a touchdown. Fordham would then score touchdowns on its next two drives, but two failed PAT tries left the score at 17-12.
However, before the end of the half, Dietrich found Sam Milligan ’27 for a monster 48-yard touchdown that would shift all the momentum back in the Bison’s favor. The Orange and Blue entered the halftime break with a 24-12 lead.
The third quarter was more of the same, as the Bison tacked on two field goals to take a 30-12 lead heading into the fourth, essentially putting the contest out of reach.
The fourth quarter was messy, as the Bison and Rams combined for two turnovers, as well as two turnovers on downs by Fordham. However, the Orange and Blue’s lead was comfortable enough to take the mistakes out of play. Both teams tacked on one more touchdown score, as Dietrich found Milligan once again, this time from 22 yards out, making the final tally 37-19.
With just two regular season games remaining, the Bison host Holy Cross next Saturday at 12 p.m EST on Nov. 15.
