Men’s Basketball had a busy slate over Thanksgiving break, highlighted by a ranked matchup against then-No.14 St. John’s. The Bison then headed down to Florida to compete in the Fort Myers Tip-Off, a multi-team event in which the Orange and Blue faced off against Bowling Green and Buffalo. The Bison then wrapped up the break with a road date against Cornell.
The Bison headed to Queens to take on the Red Storm on Nov. 20, falling 97-49. Amon Dörries ’29 led the way for the Bison with 12 points. Ruot Bijiek ’26 was the lone other Bison to score in double figures with 11. The height of St. John’s proved to be too much for Bucknell to handle, as the Orange and Blue were outrebounded 48-26 overall and 17-8 on the offensive glass. The Bison also coughed up 24 turnovers, which led to 36 points for St. John’s.
Following the ranked matchup, the Orange and Blue headed to Florida to take part in the Fort Myers Tip-Off. The Bison first matched up against Bowling Green, where they were defeated 71-66 in a tight contest. After entering the halftime locker room down 35-24, the Bison fought back to put themselves into contention late. Dörries was once again the program’s leading scorer, tallying a career-high 22 points against the Falcons on 10 shots. Achile Spadone ’26, Brandon McCreesh ’27 and Pat Curtin ’29 also reached double figures in the scoring column, with 16, 10 and 11, respectively.
For their second game of the MTE, the Bison took on Buffalo, falling 73-71 in heartbreaking fashion. It was once again a second-half surge for the Orange and Blue, who found themselves trailing 45-32 at half before storming back for a chance at a victory.
McCreesh tallied a career-high 20 points against the Bulls to go along with six boards. Dörries, Curtin and Grgur Brcic ’28 also reached double digits, totaling 13, 12 and 10, respectively. The Bison took much better care of the ball in this one, giving up just 11 turnovers, but were crushed at the free-throw line. The Bison finished the matchup -7 in both free throw attempts and makes, which ended up being the deciding factor.
The Orange and Blue wrapped up the busy break with a road game against Cornell, where the Bison dropped another by a score of 101-72.
Aleks Pachucki ’28 went for a career-high 17 points off the bench on 5-of-8 shooting from three to lead the way for the Bison. The lone other double-figure scorer was Dörries with 14 of his own.
The Bison were dominated in transition and lost the paint battle 34-26. However, the Orange and Blue were dominant on the glass, securing 13 offensive rebounds while allowing just four to the Big Red.
Up next for the Bison is a home game at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6 against UMBC.
