Men’s Basketball appeared on CBS Sports Network this past Monday night as it hosted Navy, the Patriot League’s top team. The Bison couldn’t pull off the upset over the Midshipmen in a packed crowd, falling 76-60.
The Bison got out to an early 4-0 lead but wouldn’t remain in front for long, as the Midshipmen quickly matched the Orange and Blue. Once Navy took the lead at 8-6, it never gave it up.
The Orange and Blue entered the halftime locker room down 35-24 and mostly shut down the Midshipmen from the three-point line.
However, it didn’t take long for Navy to open the contest up. Navy dominated the Bison in the middle pick-and-roll, and the Orange and Blue just didn’t have enough answers on the offensive side of the ball to make a comeback.
The Bison finished the bout shooting 37% from the field and a mere 6-of-32 (19%) from three-point range, while allowing the Midshipmen to shoot 48% from the field as a group.
The Orange and Blue couldn’t contain the Midshipmen bigs and allowed Navy to shoot a 14-of-18 (78%) clip from the free-throw line while knocking down 8-of-8 (100%) attempts themselves.
The Bison assisted on 14 of their 23 made field goals while committing just 11 turnovers and forcing 10 steals on the Midshipmen.
Four Bison starters tallied double-digit scoring nights in the loss. Achile Spadone ’26 and Patrick Curtin ’29 led the way with 14 points each, followed by Amon Dörries ’29 with 13, and Jayden Williams ’28 with 12.
The Orange and Blue dropped to 8-18 overall and 5-8 in Patriot League play. Next up for the Bison is a road game at Boston University on Feb. 14.
