Men’s Basketball snapped a four-game losing streak with a thrilling double-overtime 103-97 victory over Boston University on Saturday at Sojka Pavilion. The Bison improved to 7-16 overall and 4-6 in Patriot League play with the home victory.
The contest remained tight for the majority of the first half before the Orange and Blue were able to generate a 26-18 lead late in the first half. The Terriers were able to close the gap, bringing the tally to 32-28 in favor of the Bison heading into the halftime locker room.
Winning in conference play is difficult, whether at home or on the road, and this one turned out to be a nail-biter throughout the final 20 minutes of the contest.
There were 17 lead changes and 13 ties throughout the matchup between the Bison and the Terriers, as the contest always felt like it was going to come down to the wire.
The Bison were able to strengthen their lead to 58-46 with just under 11 minutes and some remaining before Boston eventually came back to take a small lead with just over six minutes to go.
Regulation ended with a 67-67 score, bringing the contest to its first overtime period.
The two clubs traded leads for practically every possession throughout the first overtime, and Boston was able to tie it up at 81 apiece with just under 30 seconds to go, causing the game to move to a second overtime frame.
There was a wild scoring surge throughout the second OT, with the both teams scoring some hefty points.
The Bison quickly brought the lead out to two possessions, and Boston continued to trade buckets, but it was never enough to come back.
Amon Dörries ’29 tallied a career-high 36 points, breaking Bucknell’s single-game freshman scoring record that was previously set by Al Leslie in 1978. Achile Spadone ’26 and Patrick Curtin ’29 were also in double figures in the scoring department, with 24 and 22, respectively.
Next up for the Orange and Blue is a home matchup against Colgate on Feb. 7.
