Track and Field excels at Spire Collegiate Games

Both Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams excelled at this weekend’s Spire Collegiate Games, with 14 personal and/or season bests secured for the women and 16 recorded for the men. 

In the shotput, the women had three athletes place in the top ten, with Justley Sharp ’27 winning with a 48-2 ¾ heave, Siobhan O’Sullivan ’24 grabbing fourth with a 46-0 ¾ and Prizila Negrete ’27 taking tenth place with a 41-9 ½.  The women’s track team also had three Bison place in the top four of the 3000-meter run. Kailey Granger ’27 secured silver with a pace of 10:02.12, Ally Clarke ’24 finished third with a score of 10:02.63 and Abby Paczewski ’24 came in fourth with a 10:09.20.

Continuing the success, three Bison were in the top ten in the high jump. Karen Hull ’24 came in second with a leap of 5-5 ¾, Abby Kates ’24 tied for fifth with a 5-5 ¾ and Olivia Boyce ’24 secured ninth with a 5-3 ¾. As for the long jump, Lila Gaughan ’24 secured a score of 19-4 ¼, placing her in second not only for the weekend but also in Bucknell History. 

Meghan Quinn ’24 won gold in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.55 and won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.35.

In the triple jump, two Bison finished in the top five, including Megan Baggetta ’27 who placed third with a score of 37-5.5 and Kaia Slaw ’24 who grabbed fourth with a tally of 37-3 ¾.

The Bison secured the sixth all-time record in Bucknell History in the 4×400-meter relay quartet thanks to Katherine Loew ’25, Colleen Linko ’24, Anna Posh ’25 and Quinn – who grabbed second for the weekend with a time of 3:59.49. 

As for the men’s team, the Bison secured three top-five finishes in the 5000-meter run, with Henry Didden ’26 finishing first with a time 14:44.61, Grayson Crockett ’25 grabbing silver with 14:46.15 and Thomas White ’25 securing fifth with 15:02.22. 

In the 3000-meter run, Harry Marson ’25 earned silver with a time of 8:32.14 and Ben Santos ’25 grabbed sixth with 8:41.40. 

Several Bison secured Bronze in multiple events, including Amani Ndegwa-Brown ’27, Colby Belczyk ’25, Connor Goldfarb ’27 and Ethan Wolford-Tuffy ’24 in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:20.79, and Jayson Harmer ’26 in the mile run with a time of 4:13.28. 

In the triple jump, three Bison finished in the top ten, with Chris Sims ’25 grabbing fourth (44-6 ¼), Momo Peters ’27 taking sixth (44-5 ½) and Jared Hess ’27 earning seventh (44-4 ¼). In the top ten of the 800-meter run, four Bison placed, including Zachary Jelinek ’26 in fifth, Hayden Singer ’27 in seventh, Alex Simpson ’24 in eighth and Belczyk in ninth. 

Track and Field compete next at the Bison Tuneup on Friday Feb. 16th at home.
