On Thursday, Sept. 6, Bison Women’s Soccer played under the lights on St. Joseph’s home field. From the start, the team kept the pressure high on the Hawks. A successful first goal was scored ten minutes into the game. The play started with Teresa Deda ’25, who got the ball around the upper right-hand side of the field. She crossed the ball into the box, where Reese Evans ’25 waited. Evans positioned herself and headed the ball past the Hawks’ goalkeeper.
Neither team would see another goal until around the 55th minute. Evans got involved once again as she played the ball through to Katie Connell ’28 on the run. Connell fired the ball at the net, but the opposing goalie managed to block it. Connell was, however, successful with the rebound in getting the ball past the keeper on the second try. The Bison now had a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Despite not pulling off another goal, the Bison kept the Hawks from scoring with their top-tier defense. The Bison outshot St. Joseph’s 21-4, with ten of those shots coming in the final 36 minutes of the game. The Orange and Blue have improved their record to 3-2-1.
The Bison will be back on the road as they face Fairleigh Dickinson for an away game on Sunday, Sept. 15.
