Bucknell Men’s Water Polo went 3-1 this past weekend at the Bucknell Invitational, picking up wins over Salem, Air Force and Wagner, but falling to #5 Fordham.

On Saturday, the Bison went 2-0, snapping their three-game losing streak from the Princeton Invite, where they fell to three top-twenty teams, including reigning national champion and undefeated #1 UCLA. In the first game, the Orange and Blue were hot offensively against the Tigers, finding the back of the cage 18 times to defeat Salem by three. The All-American Honorable Mention Aleksa Stefanovic ’26 was the leading scorer for the Bison, netting seven of their goals including the final one of the match to seal it.

In their second game of the day, the Orange and Blue defeated the Falcons 12-10. This time it was a more defensive showing as David Dumitru ’27 was the man of the match, recording 19 saves to keep the Bison afloat against a powerful Air Force offense. Down 9-10 at the start of the fourth quarter, Ori Raz ’29 found the equalizer early before Jack Dillane ’28 netted the winner with less than four minutes to play. Dumitru held the Falcons scoreless in the last quarter as the Bison rolled to a 2-0 start on the weekend.

On Sunday, the Orange and Blue faced off against national power Fordham, where they were downed 24-13 by the Rams, coming off a performance where they found the back of the cage 31 times against Mercyhurst. The Bison kept it close through halftime, only down 13-8 going into the break, but Fordham pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Orange and Blue 11-5 over the last 16 minutes. Dillane was the leading scorer with four as the Bison took their first loss in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference play.

The Orange and Blue ended their weekend on a high note as they took down conference foe Wagner. Stefanovic was electric once again, scoring half of the Bison’s goals as they found a tight 14-12 victory over the Seahawks. Wagner, down 7-10 entering the final quarter of action, nearly mounted a comeback, evening the score at 12-all before Stefanovic placed two in the back of the net to win it for the Orange and Blue.

The Bison continue conference play this week on Saturday, Sept. 27 and Sunday, Sept. 28 as they take on George Washington and Navy, respectively.
