Over the weekend, Men’s Water Polo competed in the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament, facing Fresno Pacific, Pacific, California Baptist and LMU.
The Bison are coming off a 19-14 loss in a tight game against conference rival Navy.
The Orange and Blue cruised through the first match against the Sunbirds, leading at halftime 12-7 and coasting to a 21-12 victory. Aleksa Stefanovic ’26 was the leading scorer with seven goals, creating a deficit that was too much for Fresno Pacific to overcome.
In the second game, the Orange and Blue fell to No. 7 Pacific 16-12. Stefanovic led the Bison with four goals, while eight different Bison players found the back of the cage. The Bison held even with the Tigers, with Ian Shultz ’26 equalizing the game 4-4 just before the second quarter. The Orange and Blue found an early lead in the second, with Jack Dillane ’28 and Stefanovic adding another goal each to make the score 6-6, but the Tigers responded with three cage finders for a 9-6 lead. The Bison rallied with another six in the final two quarters, but the Tigers held steady with seven goals for a final score of 16-12.
In the third game, the Lancers found an early lead in the first quarter, scoring six goals while the Bison only tallied three. In the second and third quarters, the Lancers continued to attack, adding another seven to their total while the Bison tallied four. The Orange and Blue rallied with four goals in the final quarter, but No. 12 CBU sealed the deal, scoring five goals and winning 18-11.
In the fourth game, the Orange and Blue fell to No. 15 Loyola Marymount University. Ori Raz ’29 was the leading scorer with three cage-finders, while David Dumitru ’27 recorded nine saves, sharing duties in goal with Mateo Herrera ’26. The Orange and Blue trailed 9-3 at the half, and despite a strong battle, the Lions continued to press and ended the game with eight insurance goals in the fourth quarter to close the game 23-10.
The Bison continue conference play back in Emmitsburg, Md. against Mount St. Mary’s on Nov. 1.
