Women’s Basketball dropped its third game out of its last four with a 63-41 loss on the road to Holy Cross, the third-place team in the Patriot League standings. The Bison dropped to 10-17 overall and 6-10 in conference play following the defeat.
Holy Cross was hot offensively from the beginning, taking a 15-8 lead after the first quarter. However, Bucknell was able to cut the deficit with a 14-point second quarter, matching the scoring of the Crusaders.
The Orange and Blue entered the halftime break down 29-22.
It was the third quarter that seemingly put the game out of reach for the Bison, as it was outscored 21-6 in that frame. The Crusaders opened the half with five quick points and never surrendered the lead from there.
The Orange and Blue were outscored 14-1 to extend the already comfortable lead for Holy Cross.
The Bison fought back in the final frame, matching the 13-point quarter that Holy Cross put together. However, it wasn’t enough to ultimately close the gap.
Reese Zemitis ’28 led the scoring for the Orange and Blue with nine points, followed by Mariah Hardy ’29 and Kaila Richards ’29, each with seven apiece.
For the game, the Bison shot 38% from the floor and 4-of-17 (24%) from three-point range. The Orange and Blue committed 16 turnovers, which turned into 19 points for Holy Cross.
The Bison will face Lehigh at home on Saturday, Feb. 28.
