The Orange and Blue battled in two final regular-season duals over the weekend, securing a 1-1 split against Columbia (6-30 L) and Bloomsburg (34-9 W).
In their first matchup, the Lions found the early lead, with a 7-0 scoring run against the Bison. Dylan Chappell ’26 secured the first points for the Bison with an upset victory over his opponent to make the score 7-3.
Despite the attack, the Lions regained quickly, scoring another 17 unanswered points, making their lead 24-3. Dillon Bechtold ’28 earned the second win for the Orange and Blue, outlasting his opponent in a grueling sudden victory bout. Following the win, Columbia found another 5 points, securing the victory over the Bison 30-6.
The Bison trailed early in the second matchup against the Huskies, with a 9-0 deficit following two bouts. Vinnie D’Alessandro ’28 began the Bison momentum, pinning his opponent and launching an eight bout win streak.
Riley Bower ’26 regained the lead for the Bison with a tech fall over his opponent. Cade Wirnsberger ’27 found a tactical victory and added to the lead, 14- 9. Noah Mulvaney ’27 and Myles Takats ’27 continued the strong attack, securing two additional victories and adding to an already dominant lead.
Tyler Bienus ’28 found a gritty win in his matchup, adding another three points to the Bison’s lead. Bechtold extended his winning streak with a decisive victory, followed by Logan Shephard ’26, who ended a heavyweight drought with the Bison’s first win in the class since Jan. 16. The Bison secured the victory 34-9 against Bloomsburg. The Orange and Blue will rest now in preparation for the EIWA Championships.
The Bison compete next at the EIWA Championships in Washington, D.C., on March 6-7.
