Men’s Lacrosse competed against Lafayette at home over the weekend, winning in overtime 14-13. The Bison enter the matchup with a 6-3 record overall and 2-2 in the Patriot League. The Leopards were looking to respond after losing to Navy the weekend prior.
The Orange and Blue led the first quarter, 4-3. Bison goalie Jaz Zanelli ’26 recorded his first career goal, tying the game at 5-5 heading into the half. The Bison struggled early in the third quarter as the Leopards tacked on five goals coming off the break. Luke Brunner ’27 broke the Leopards scoring streak and sparked a strong Bison response with back-to-back goals late in the third quarter. Peter Grandolfo ’27 followed up with a clutch shot to make it 10-8 heading into the fourth.
Hans Huber ’27 opened the quarter with a top left strike while Michael Meyer ’26 added another, tying the game 10-10.
The Leopards attacked back, taking back the lead with three goals broken by a crucial shot by Sean Berrigan ’27 to keep the Bison in the game, 13-11. Colin McLoy ’27 added another, and Will Hopkins ’26 tied the match 13-13 with just 25 seconds left.
A chaotic series of turnovers led to the Leopards calling a timeout, despite already having used one earlier in overtime. Huber took advantage of the man-up opportunity, scoring in the final-fraction of a second, giving the Bison their first overtime goal since 2018 against No. 3 Yale.
The Bison compete next against Army at home on April 4.
