Early this week, Women’s Golf had its season opener in the El Campeon Collegiate at the Mission Inn Resort, finishing third out of 11 teams.
The Bison are looking to expand off a record-setting fall season, winning three tournaments, a 36- and a 54-hole record and six Patriot League Golfers of the Week. Paige Richter ’26 and Joelle Johnson ’29 won Patriot League Golfer of the Week twice, while Katherine Vice ’27 and Sophia Bardunias ’28 won it once.
The Orange and Blue began with a 336 (+48) team score in round one. Bardunias was the low scorer with a 79, giving the Bison strong momentum in chilly conditions.
Bardunias and Nicole Yun ’27 found themselves in the top 20 individuals after the first day, with the Orange and Blue placing fourth overall. Bardunias was solo third this week, with a 17-over 233 (79-78- 76). Her final round of 76 tied a Lehigh competitor for the low card of the day.
The Bison sophomore found three birdies and scored no lower than a bogey for the next day. Richter found her way to a T-12 finish, after an opening round of 89, the senior added a pair of 77s in the following rounds. Johnson added to the total with an 85 opening round, before tallying two 82s.
Vice rounded out the Bison scoring with an 85, leading the Bison to a third-place finish in a competitive 11 team field.
